Glue Networks is seeking a Technical Writer. This is a key resource in the product team for the delivery of internally and externally focused technical documents explaining value, installation, configuration, function and use. The primary responsibility is writing, gathering information, and managing customer and partner facing guides and manuals for both cloud based and premise based products and solutions. In addition to technical guides, the Technical Writer will be responsible for developing and writing technical support material, white-papers and other short articles for publication; and creating and managing online help content.

Responsibilities:
- Scope creation of new documents and updates to existing guides and create project plans that can meet schedule requirements as defined by the development process.
- Gather technical data, usage, and functionality for Glue Networks’ products from Product Marketing and Engineering/SQA for use in documentation.
- Develop and maintain installation, configuration, usage documentation and online help for Glue Networks’ products.
- Review published materials and recommend revisions, changes in scope, format, content, and methods of distribution or publication.

• Write and edit documents to support remediation activities associated with PCI 3.0.
• Conduct interviews with subject matter experts in order to gather data and understand scope, requirements, risk mitigations, etc.
• Assess documentation needs with the goal of creating easy-to-use, easy-to-maintain materials.
• Develop and execute documentation plans as part of a sustainable documentation environment.

• Organize and maintain PCI 3.0 library files, file structures, and spreadsheets.

• Ensure that documentation is accurate, complete, meets specifications, and adheres to standards for quality and style.
• Edit and publish high quality, easy to access, intuitively-organized final documents.

Experience/Professional requirement:                      
• Minimum five (5) years of experience writing and editing user software or hardware documentation, SOPs and/or best practices.
• Experience developing technical documentation in an IT environment preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced documentation environment and work independently as needed.
• Experience working in a technical environment, in particular with infrastructure systems.
• Understands secure data protocols and issues around secure data management.
• Excellent written, interviewing, oral communication, and editorial skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Visio, Adobe Acrobat required.
• Proficiency in SharePoint, Illustrator, Excel, PowerPoint preferred.
• Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style and/or other technical writing standards.

  • Solicit, compile, and manage the tactical collection, storage, and creation of technical information from projects, operations, engineering , and management teams for Information Technology solution and process development activities

Illustrator/Photoshop CS6 Project (intermediate to expert ability)

Candidate will be involved in production of interactive touchscreen presentations. This involves using Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 at a production level in a templated fashion. Clientele has established presentation styles and adding new content (for example, new floor plans and exterior elevations). Individual would be responsible for breaking down images into elements and then creating .psd files from various elements. Need someone detail-oriented, creativity is not used in this role. Must be reliable and work set schedule within flexible work hours.
They are open 7 days a week, Mon-Fri 8-7, Sat/Sun 9-5. Environment: Causal, everyone works well with each other, minimal supervision

Required to know the following:
How to work with smart objects vs. rasterized images and how each affect resolution.
How to save jpgs vs pngs, and knowing which version to save based on how it will be used.
How to save pngs as trimmed objects vs. canvas-sized objects.
How to create smart objects by copying from Illustrator and pasting to Photoshop for positioning and sizing. Once sized, then a copy of the smart object can be rasterized and edited as needed.
How to set the horizontal and vertical position of an object or image, and set the same position from image to image. (In the interactive digital world, there's a such thing as being off by one pixel.)
How to work though Illustrator and to manage/organize layers.

General Description

As a Technical Writer, you must have strong writing skills, and the ability to think and write sequentially, in a narrative form that is clear and informative. You must also have a firm understanding of the processes that occur within a plant, particularly the effect that minor actions have on overall process. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, as well as the flexibility to adjust and adapt your writing as needed to ensure that your message is understood by your intended audience.

You will apply your process industry knowledge to create materials that describe and explain the operations of various process systems, using technical documentation, P&IDs and PFDs as resources. In these training materials, you will identify the steps required to address startup, shutdown and emergency situations and also provide explanations of advanced control systems and processes.

Specific Duties

  • Research and accurately interpret technical reference material for use in training documents and operating procedures
  • Apply project templates to develop job task inventories, training guides, manuals, operating procedures, self-study questions and evaluations
  • Develop and incorporate supporting VISIO graphics
  • Plan and gather static and dynamic data using multiple methods and organize information for analysis
  • Self-edit documents for grammar, punctuation, spelling and content accuracy, review content organization and information flow for continuity and consistency and ensure that all graphics support the document text
  • Participate in client meetings and use established protocols for resolving questions and issues with client SME
  • Complete document tracking charts as well as review monthly project status reports and other quality tools as necessary
  • Perform company related tasks including time reports and other requirements as necessary
