Media Libel
We do not commit libel. Libel is a published or broadcast false and defamatory statement that damages the reputation of an individual. According to the THE ‘ELECTRIC LAW LIBRARY(tm) (See www.lectlaw.com ) libel is:
Published material meets three conditions: the material is defamatory either on its face or indirectly; the defamatory statement is about someone who is identifiable to one or more persons, and the material must be distributed to someone other than the offended party; i.e. published; distinguished from slander.
The only complete and unconditional defense to a libel claim is proof that the statement is true. Quoting a source accurately isn’t enough; the defendant must convince a jury that his statements or the material in the statements he or she quoted are substantially correct.
In most states, public officials or figures as plaintiffs are required to prove negligence or actual malice on the part of the publisher. To prove actual malice, a person needs to show that at the time of publication or broadcast, those responsible for the story either knew it was not true or had a reckless disregard for the truth.

Where the author is unknown, we say so, and we encourage the author/copyright holder to declare his or her ownership of the property.
Brief quotations are occasionally used under “fair use” rules, with no intention of exploitation or profit.
